How to make the most of your SchoolBudi free trial: a step-by-step guide

Your SchoolBudi free trial gives your school seven days of full access, with no card needed. Seven days goes quickly, so here is a simple step-by-step plan to help you get children checking in early and see real patterns before the trial ends. Every step links to a guide in our How-To centre.

Meet SchoolBudi

Start with this short video, in which Saskia Joss explains the idea behind SchoolBudi and why noticing how children feel each day matters.

Step 1 (Day 1): Start your trial and set up your school

  1. Go to Start a free trial and enter your school name, your name, email and a password.
  2. Agree to the policies and you are straight into your school dashboard.
  3. Find your school code on the dashboard; you will share it with teachers.
  4. Add your classes. Adding several classes, not just one, gives you a much better feel for the whole-school picture.

Guide: First-time setup for school leaders.

Step 2 (Day 1–2): Invite your teachers

  1. Invite teachers by email from your dashboard. The email includes a sign-up link with your school code already filled in.
  2. Ask teachers to check their junk or spam folder if the invite does not arrive.
  3. Teachers create their account once, then simply sign in with their email and password.

Guide: Creating a teacher account with the school code.

Step 3 (Day 2): Add pupils and coloured dots

  1. Add children individually, or paste a class list with one name per line.
  2. Each child gets their own check-in PIN (primary classes can use the PIN-free mode, where children just pick their name).
  3. Optionally add coloured dots to group pupils privately. Only your school knows what each colour means; SchoolBudi never sees it.

Guide: Setting up a class and coloured dots.

Step 4 (Days 2–6): Make check-ins part of every morning

The more days of check-ins you collect, the more useful your trial will be, so try to start by Day 2.

  • Children choose their name, share how they feel and can quietly ask to talk to a teacher.
  • Afterwards, they can try the calming tools.
  • Pick a regular moment, such as registration, so it quickly becomes routine.

Guide: A child's daily check-in.

Step 5 (Days 3–7): Use the dashboards

  • Teachers can see who has checked in today, any requests to talk and class happiness trends.
  • School leaders can compare classes and coloured-dot groups and see the whole-school picture.
  • By the end of the week you will start to spot patterns, such as which days feel harder.

Guide: Using the dashboards day to day.

Step 6 (Day 7): Choose how to carry on

When your trial ends, nothing is deleted. Your classes, pupils and check-in history are kept for 90 days, but new check-ins pause until you subscribe. Signing in as the school leader and opening Billing gives you two options:

  • Pay by card: instant access, paid securely through Stripe.
  • Request an invoice: your account goes live straight away and we email you an invoice to pay by bank transfer.

The price is £30 per class per academic year, or £25 per class for five or more classes, applied automatically. An academic year runs from 1 September to 31 July. Guide: Trial and subscribing.
